What are the RAC, RITSIC, and RIPRE?
The RAC is a regional or national register where data from self-consumption installations are submitted. In the context of collective self-consumption, it is typically registered with the competent authority of the autonomous community (e.g., the Directorate General for Energy).
- It is a required step to officially identify the installations.
- It allows monitoring of the participation of consumption points within the electrical system.
RITSIC is specific to Catalonia and corresponds to the register where electrical installations are declared based on their activity and nature
- It includes power generation installations.
- It is mandatory for any grid-connected generation system.
- It is processed via the Generalitat’s Canal Empresa platform.
RIPRE is a national register (managed by the Ministry for Ecological Transition) that applies when a self-consumption installation with surplus energy not under compensation exceeds specific power thresholds.
- It is mandatory for installations that sell surplus electricity on the market.
- Its purpose is to include these installations in the national energy production system.
- It is managed through the IDAE or the Ministry’s register, often with support from the regional authorities.
